did you know. . .  . .

Smoking can have a huge impact on your removal and may delay the results of your treatments. So can poor health & not drinking enough water.

Your preparation and aftercare play a vital role in the results of your tattoo removal.  If you follow our preparation and aftercare guidelines you will get the most out of each treatment and achieve optimal results.

If you ever have any questions or are unsure about anything, just give us a call, our technicians will be there to help you every step of the way.

Before you come in for your treatment it is extremely important that you:

  • Keep your tattoo protected and out of direct sunlight at least 4 weeks before any treatment.

  • The area cannot be tanned from any source, this includes fake tan and tanning beds.

  • Shave the tattoo area 12 hours before (the laser can temporarily change the pigment colour in your hair)

  • If you wish to use numbing cream, apply 30 minutes beforehand. You can obtain this from your GP or chemist.

Your aftercare equates to 30% of your treatment success. Surprisingly, the little things can make the world of difference to your removal.

To minimize side effects and risks and maximize your removal success here's all you have to do:

Immediately after your treatment

  • Keep the treated area cool and keep clothing loose around the area (fitted clothes doesn't allow it to breath)

  • Do not expose the area to the sun

  • Avoid excessive heat to the skin for 24-48 hours after (hot bath, shower, sauna etc)

  • Avoid exercising for 24-48 hours after

  • Try not to bump the area

Following weeks until your next treatment

  • Apply your Post Laser Care cream every 2 days to the area

  • Keep the area clean and dry

  • As hard as it will be, do not pick or scratch (this could lead to scaring)

  • Do not expose the area to the sun, always use SPF 30+ and keep the area protected

  • Apply cooling to the area if it becomes warm or itchy

  • Exercising and drinking plenty of water helps to move the tattoo particles through your system quicker.

After the treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling, itching and sometimes blistering. This is a normal process as the body works to remove the tattoo dyes.

As some of the ink particles surface to the top layer of the skin, this can cause some scabbing just like when your tattoo was first healing.

Pinpoint bleeding can be possible, but unlikely until we are getting towards the end of your removal. If you get some pinpoint bleeding don't worry as it doesn't have any harmful consequences and does not lead to scaring.

Scarring from laser tattoo removal is highly unlikely unless the area has been picked at or harmed during the healing process in any way. It is quite common, however, for scars to develop from the initial tattoo application which may not be visible beneath the tattoo. However, some tattoo scars can lead to the tattoo being raised. If you do have a scar from your original tattoo, it may be visible after the tattoo is removed.

We will soon have the technology available to treat scarring from your original tattoo or other traumatic scars. So stay tuned!
